Oribi Gorge

Situated along forest-cloaked ravine of the Mzimkulwana river just west of Port Shepstone, Oribi Gorge is the eastern gorge of two gorges that cuts through the Oribi Flats, southern KwaZulu-Natal. The western gorge was formed by the Mzimkulu river. At the base of the cliffs of both gorges there are rocks over 1000 million years old while the cliffs themselves are formed from sandstone deposited about 365 million years ago.

Scottburgh Spearfishing - Scottburgh Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve

One of the most attractive and popular resorts on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, Scottburgh’s past is steeped in both colonial and traditional Zulu culture. Shaka, King of the Zulu’s, and his entourage were amongst some of the early visitors to this area.

Spearfishing - Scottburgh

The point off the tidal pool is good for garrick and brusher during the run. Further south off the caravan park is scattered reef extending out to the shark nets. This area is good for rock lobster and big kingfish. Also very good for big cuda during the sardine run. Further south scattered reefs run in 15m+ all the way to station reef at Park Rynie. A good drift to pick up a mixed bag of fish and rock lobster.
